Instructor – T.J. Young

T.J.’s professional career began right after High School when he joined the United States Marine Corps. A West Coast graduate of MCRD, he went on to train in Camp Pendleton as an infantryman and then stationed out to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. As a member of the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines (Warlords) he would gain experience and training in advanced infantry tactics, leadership, MOUT (Military Operations in Urban Terrain), force on force, and become a firearms instructor (having qualified as an Expert Rifleman numerous times and Sharpshooter Pistol shooter). In January of 2002 his unit was spun up with 6 months of training for a deployment with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) set to depart later that year.

In August of 2002 T.J. would set off with the 24th MEU to several theaters and countries including but not limited to… Greece, Kosovo, Kenya, Djibouti, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, and ultimately Iraq. T.J. participated in combat operations in Al Kut, Nasiriyah, and participated in several campaigns/missions from Southern Iraq to just outside of Baghdad. This deployment came to a close when the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines were extracted back to their ships and floated back home to North Carolina. T.J. would go on to deploy a second time with the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines to Djibouti as a member of a security team for a Special Forces camp.

During this time T.J. would gain considerable tactical knowledge while applying that to real world situations and combat operations. Following the end of his contract, T.J. packed up his things and moved back out to Colorado to plant his roots.

Now in Colorado, T.J. would go on to apply and get recruited into the Denver Police Department, Colorado Rangers, and Commerce City Police Department. He would spend a considerable portion of his life on patrol teams, as a DUI Investigator, Traffic Investigator, Gang Unit member, and participate in several high profile criminals cases and task forces. During this time, he would gain access to the Denver Police SWAT team, Arvada PD SWAT team, Commerce City (Adams) SWAT team, Jefferson County SWAT team, and more through various firearm and tactical training courses. He also became an instructor in several disciplines to include less-lethal platforms like the Pepperball. Much of the content for the Homefield Defense courses would start to take shape from these years in the Military and Law Enforcement.

Now with a Retired Police ID in hand, T.J. would go on to explore the Security realm starting in unarmed uniformed positions, armed and then plain clothes assignments. He would find his purpose protecting high-net-worth individuals through Executive Protection work throughout the state of Colorado and across the U.S. Training never ceased for T.J. who went on to train with a former Green Beret in Las Vegas for two weeks, as well as with several former Law Enforcement and SWAT Operators in Colorado for high profile work with industry CEO clients, a Presidential Candidate, Saudi Prince, Governor Candidate, and much more. It was here the Fundamental courses were born and fleshed out with nearly 30 years of combined experience, training, and real world application.
